It might have been Dec 17, 1993 – the first film I saw here was The Pelican Brief, potentially opening weekend of the complex.
image adjusted….
You mentioned this last February.
Im flabbergasted that you haven’t taken the time of the year to not only find out the exact date of the opening, but also to re-centre the google map image above.
That and also help out figure out a better parking scheme for them. Apparently you’ve got a lot of time on your hands.
This coming december, this theater turns 20. Times have changed. THis theater still offers plenty of indie films that rockaway doesn’t offer.
On the weekend that spider-man came out the weekend after july 4th, there was construction on a friday night outside the parking lot of the theater on Route 10, causing major traffic backups. Security at this theater is also increased due to the tragedy in colorado.
all screens now digital.
Late next year marks the 20th anniversary of this theater. The parking lot near it usually gets crowded not only because it’s near the theater but there’s restaurants and shops.
I noticed that East Hanover is starting to show more 3D movies. BTW, Google Street View is wrong but it’s on the right highway.
One cool thing about this theater is that they keep running art house movies longer than in Rockaway due to its affluent location. It has been five+ years since I first went to this theater, and it’s my second favorite AMC theater behind the one in Rockaway.
The theater’s sign now says it’s showing select movies in digital 3D. I just saw that on the way home from work.
all screens now digital, with 4 3D screens.
According to AMC, those who usually go to Essex Green (now closed for renovations) are now told to go check out this theater. I think this theater doesn’t need a Fork and Screen since there are too many restaurants, both local and franchised owned, to serve East Hanover residents.
Went to this theater for “Nightmare”…it was a nightmare trying to get in after I bought my ticket because the ushers were asking everyone to show their ticket and the i.d. since it was an R-Rated movie. At least the movie was decent…it was in theater #12 and had so-so picture quality and great surround sound and deep bass. They brought back the AMC jungle trailer this time.
what movie had the longest run at this theater? Last movie that was around for a long time was “The Blind Side”.
I’m planning on going to this theater at the end of this month just in time for “Nightmare On Elm Street” (the remake)….slimshady, will this theater be all-digital by may or later this year?
clash of the titans is not in 3d at this theater, thank the gods. Only How To Train Your Dragon, which was made with 3D in mind, is still being shown for a second week. Greenberg, the new comedy starring Ben Stiller, is playing at this theater, yet another reason why East Hanover gets all the indie films and Rockaway rarely gets any.
avatar will be only in 2d starting tomorrow, and alice 3d is on one screen.
Digital,Digital,Digital,big deal.

another digital screen was added.
also during the showing of new moon instead of amc showing the jungle trailer they showed the old one with Clip in it before the movie began….is AMC doing this at other theaters? Welcome back Clip!!!
went to a 4 pm showing of new moon yesterday. good presentation no splices. during the previews the digital sound was on and off before the projectionist reverted to stereo. this is the worst amc loews theater. they should rebuild it as an amc theater with stadium seating and all digital sound, much like rockaway.
If it is that bad I want to see it!!Free advertisment!!!!!!
when i worked for Loews in the late 70’s We would hire a protester to stand in front of the house, it would be shown on the local news and we had much more attendance than if nobody had heard about it.
Cloudy is back in 3-D, and also a digital 2D presentation of The Stepfather remake is also in the same auditorium. This weeknd: “Xmas Carol 3D”. I read a review online that says that this theater gets bad prints of major movies. I can see why, lots of scratches, splices, and blurry prints. Thankfully I go to Rockaway instead of this theater.
