Orpheum Theatre Human Billboard - Christmas 1945

Pictured is a second photograph of the young man hired by the Orpheum theatre to walk the sidewalk on Third street as a human billboard. This sign seems to indicate that Santa Claus is staying past Christmas to see “Bells of St. Mary’s.” Businesses in view, just west of the theatre, include Fannie May Candy Shop (112 E. Third St.), Mississippi Hotel Barber Shop (110 E. Third St.) and The Book Shop (108 E. Third St.). At that time, Mollie J. Burke was the manicurist at the hotel barber shop. She lived at 613 Pershing Ave.
