The Bannister Square 6 was owned by AMC and the Bannister Mall was the Comonwealth/United Artists theatre.

Theater opened approximately 1983, closed 1998. At present the theater sits empty. There were some incidents of vandalism and a shooting which prompted the closing of this theater.

This was a Commonwealth, which was sold to United Artists in 1987

Bannister Square 6 was AMC. A friend and I actually drove up from Springfield in the early 80s and went there because it had Dolby Stereo, still a novelty at the time (we were seeing “Blade Runner”). Although built just a few years before the Oak Park Plaza, it never seemed as nice. The Bannister 5 in the mall was owned by a different chain.
