Well scratch that photo off.
The 1986 photo is the building to the left of the theater. Whoever took the photo might have thought that building was the theater building.
It sure does, do you think the building I linked to was the wrong building that they took the photo of?
Chuck….It doesn’t look like this building. The 1986 photo looks more like the building to the left of the former theater.
1986 photo of the Anderson Theatre. Not very impressive for a theatre building.

Boxoffice magazine reported in January 1938 that the Anderson Theater in Mullins was being constructed at a cost of $40,000. The theater was expected to open in April of that year.
In 1963, Anderson Theatres operated the Anderson in Mullins as mentioned above, as well as the Anderson in Hemingway and the Ocean Drive and Colonial in Ocean Drive Beach. Presumably they picked up more theaters later.
The Anderson Theatre in Mullins was owned by the Anderson Theatre Company—a chain that owned theatres in nearby Myrtle Beach, Kingstree, Hemingway, Manning and Pamplico. This chain (owned by B.B. Anderson) also operated drive-in theatres.
Here are more photos from the company that did the construction work on the Anderson Center apartments :

This is a recent photo of the Anderson Center apartments showing the former theater marquee over the entrance and part of the remaining balcony incorporated into the apartments:
