The Elite Theatre was located in downtown Springfield and opened in 1927. It was basically a newsreel theatre. I could find no positive date of closing. The Springfield archives at the library show two different closing dates, one in 1932 and one in 1937.

There is some error in the location of this theatre. I am not familiar with it, but Main St. in Springfield is a north-south thoroughfare, and the lowest street numbers are the 100s, which constitutes businesses on the square. Is there a way that this can be corrected?

The address should have been 137 Main St. Thanks for pointing that out.
