In November of 1957, the Community Players paid $21,000 for the 300-seat Esquire and would rehearse in the spot in 1958 planning to make it their permanent home for live plays. But the city of Bloomington had other plans, condemning the building in 1958 and razing in early in 1959 for a parking lot.
