Opened as the De Luxe Theatre as early as 1917, became the Empress Theatre in the fall of 1920, and then the Walmur Theatre on August 17, 1922 right before the lobby was remodeled.

It is still in operation since 1963.

The Walmur Amusement Company, Bristow, is listed in a 1926 Advertisement for Reproduco organs. Did Walmur Amusement own other theatres in town during the early 1920’s or was this their only hall?

The Walmur Theatre had a destinctive design style, and after looking at modern day Bristow street views I could not locate a match. See what you think!

Southwestern styling of the Bristow Walmar and Okmulgee Inca auditoriums were very similar in design. Photographs of the Walmar Theatre can be seen by typing word “theatre” in search area …
