The Granada Theatre opened in 1935 at North 9th Street and Exchange Avenue. In the 1945 Film Daily Yearbook, it is listed as the New Granada, seating 500. Any further information on this theater would be appreciated.

The Granada Theater is listed in both the 1941 and 1943 editions of Film Daily Yearbook as ‘Closed’. It is not in the F.D.Y. 1950 edition.

The Actual address for the New Granada AKA Granada was 910 Exchange Ave. North 9th in this area is Collinsville Road. North 9th ends at St. Clair Ave. It was located about 10 blocks north of the downtown area of East St. Louis. Single story theatre that closed in the late 40’s. I don’t think it closed between name changes from the Granada and the New Granada so the FDY might have shown it as the New Granada during the time frame it was listed in 1941 and 1943. A lot of the area was demolished when the highway went through.
