The Virginia Theater was located on Main Street in Hazard, Kentucky. I don’t have the opening date but this theater was operating in the 1940’s and lasted to at least the early 60’s.

I found a few photos of this theater. The caption under one of them reads “Fire Fighters battle blaze that gutted the Virginia Theatre July 31, 1963”. Not sure if that was the end of this theater or if it was rebuilt. Click the link below for a photo of the Virginia Theater taken around 1952.

Here is a 1942 photo of the Virginia Theater. It was during WWII and they were collecting rubber for the war effort. Notice the marquee in this 1942 photo and the more modern one in the 1952 photo above.

A Louisville theater organ opus 515 was installed in the Virginia Theater in 1926.
