A motion picture theatre was granted a Certificate of Occupancy at this location in 1917 (388 first floor seats, 97 balcony). It was still in operation as of 1928 but was gone by 1940.

More information would be appreciated.

Listed in the American Motion Picture Directory 1914 – 1915 as the Rutger Vaudeville Theatre (presumably screening movies?)

Film Daily Yearbook’s;1926 and 1927 list the Rutger Theatre with 500 seats. There is no listing in the 1930 edition of F.D.Y.

This theatre seems to be registered twice at CT with the same address but with different spellings: Rutgers Rutger Which is correct?
