This was a silent movie house. I found out about it by reading the post for the Bank Street Theater in New Milford, by owner Rocky Barry.

“The owner of the Star Theater, a silent movie house across the street from this building, moved his business into this specially designed cinema”. The building had been demolished by 2012.

The New Milford Library has only a few City Directories from the times I wanted and it skipped quite a few decades in between, particularly, 1911-1950. Anyway, I found the Star Theatre in the 1910 Directory on 39 Bank Street, which showed “moving pictures”. The manager was J.F. Raifstanger. I went upstairs to see any remnants
but I didn’t think I’d find anything. I was right. Carved into offices and a drop ceiling.

This wasn’t listed in the property directory.

Was just here today and 39 Bank St is a parking lot so it appears this theatre has long since been demolished.
