Westates closed this theatre in 2005 after selling to an invester. Bing street view still shows the theatre standing. It never reopened. Header should be listed as Closed.
Summer is coming. I hope that I can get the funding to buy the theater and make it something awesome for Cedar City, Utah
DEATH WISH 2 was playing,Not “Death Wish”.Put the 2 up guys.
The theater is going for almost 500 thousand. Personally I do not think it is worth quite that much.

I do not know if that building is still standing. so much has been done with that property across the street from this location.
Andrew, with a last name like Yung and living in Utah, I am sure you have done your geneology work. How far back have you gone and are you related to Brigham?
There used to be amnother theatre on the other side of the street from the Cedar, I believe it was the Park, is that building still standing?
Looks like it’s still closed. The theater is at the end of Main Street in this circa 1940s photo.

How would everyone feel if the Cedar City Twin was turned into a theater with a stage for plays etc?
I understand that Cedar City has many theaters because of the Festival however, it would be a community theater. Making it available for the General public of Cedar City/Southern Utah region.
Let me know what you think. email me:

A Robert-Morton theater organ was installed in the Thorley Theater in 1928.
The above comments are correct, this theater is closed. Westates Theatres sold it to a private investor. There is a February 23, 2006 article about it here.
The article also list the former nearby Park Theater that is now a bread store.
According to an article in the Cedar City Review today, the theather is for sale and list the #.
Iwas in Cedar City the weekend of Sept. 30-Oct. 1 and noticed that the Cedar is now closed. The building now has a new owner, but due to a non-compete clause, it cannot be utilized as a theater. Some friends of mine at the Utah Shakespearean Festival said the new use is unknown, but the site is being renovated.
