I rechecked the 1919 list I cited earlier and it also has the Diamond listed at 1520 Broadway.

There is also this item from the October 7, 1922, issue of the Toledo City Journal: “A resolution granting permission to the Diamond Theatre to erect a metal electric sign at 1520 Broadway; referred to the Committee on Public Improvements.”

That’s three to one against the postcard.

That postcard may have the wrong address. The 1913 Toledo City Directory lists the Diamond at 1520 Broadway St. Either way, it is demolished.

A list of Toledo theaters published in 1919 included the Diamond, at the above address, with 484 seats, managed by L.R. Austin. The 1911 annual report by the Secretary of State of Ohio lists a Diamond Theatre Company, Toledo, as having been incorporated with a capital of $10,000 on April 13, 1910. The theater most likely opened that year.

Key Bank is at 1612. After that a long stretch of parking lots, then some kind of school or factory at about 1630. No trace of the former Diamond.

The Related Websites link shows a wonderful b/w photo of this theatre. I wonder if it still stands as the status says closed and not demolished?
