According to the Chicago Tribune article below, the Roxy’s marquee has been restored to replicate it’s original appearance and neon lighting added to the facade. Although the building continues to be home to a community center for persons with developmental disabilities as it has for the last two decades, the theater’s owners, Trinity Services, plan to open the building to the public this year to rent the space, and for special events.

This theater has been reopened!!! Mayor Steve Streit has recently negotiated an agreement with the owners of the building and the facility has been renovated. A new marquee with lights, updated entry and bar/eating area. The Lockport Old Towne Cafe, neighbor to the Roxy, serves their specialty food incuding hotdogs, sausage sandwiches, desserts. It is a BYOB theater. The weekend of July 25 the Roxy showed Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. August 8 and 9 will be the gothic horror Hansel and Gretel.

It looks like this building is currently being used as a nightclub for people with mental illness or disability. There’s an interesting article about this here: http://www.voanews.com/content/illinois-nightclub-caters-to-mentally-challenged—137487468/162769.html

Also, here’s a photograph of the theatre I made this Summer. I’ll post a few more once I’m done with school in a couple weeks.

Here is a recent picture. The image is not the best, unfortunately.

According to an employee at a local business, the theater is occassionally used for senior citizens' events.
