Where did Jack get the information about this theatre? I have just reviewed a Memphis Memoirs video done ten years ago which was mostly about neighborhood movie theatres. It had many rare photos, some on flyers or on newsprint. I remember nothing at all about a Parkview Theatre. There was a Parkview Hotel on Poplar (now senior housing) and a Parkview Restaurant on East Parkway (now gone) but I can’t for the life of me figure this one out.
I’ve never been to Memphis, but I share vastor’s skepticism about this theater. That building does look like the buildings banks built during the middle decades of the 20th century. The bank branch my parents patronized was built about 1950 with exactly that sort of tall section at the back, which had the vault and safe deposit boxes on the ground floor, and offices above.
The building’s style is clearly not from the mid-1930s, when the Parkview Theatre is supposed to have opened. If there was a theater at this address in the 1930s, it was surely not in the late Midcentury Modern building in that photo.
This photo shows a First National Bank branch building from the 1960s. I do remember this one.
I am not sure about this theatre. My mother has lived down the street since 1930 and I lived there from 1953-1975. Neither one of us has remembered anything about a Parkview theatre. The lot could have contained a theatre that size but it’s weird that two neighborhood theatres would be right next door to one another. None of the rest were, outside of the older downtown theatres.

This shows its proximity to the Luciann Theatre: View link
This address is next door to the Luciann Theatre. It is a small one-story building housing the payment office of the local utility company. I will take a photo next time I’m there.
