This was an Oscar Hammerstein project opened in 1901. According to the NYT opening announcement;
“The facades of the the structure will be of Wyoming blue stone and fancy brick with terra cotta ornaments of elaborate design. The auditorium will have three balconies, and there will also be a roof garden. Over the stage will be placed tablets bearing the names of famous playwrights and musical composers.”
It was still showing movies in 1923.

In June of 1952 a certificate of occupancy was issued for a new building at 615 Eighth Avenue. This theater must have been demolished.
It looks more like the old Drury Lane Theatre, in Covent Garden , London, UK. now known as the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
This is a picture of a Teatro de Drury Lane. Is that the same theater as the one listed here?
Certainly listed in the American Motion Picture Directory;1914-1915 edition, it is stll listed as open in the 1926 edition of Film Daily Yearbook with a seating capacity of 600.
