Yes, Mr. Clausen did design the historic Schubert Theatre aka Gooding Cinema in Gooding. There are 6 murals total in the auditorium 3 large canvases on the North wall and 3 canvases on the South wall. They can be seen on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SchubertTheatre/ Also we are blessed with having a hand painted backdrop of Shoshone Falls signed by Ernest Miller in 1920 that is stunning. It has water damage from the leaking roof but at some point we will also be restoring this historical canvas as well as two of the canvases by Hugo Clausen near the balcony that has been torn. The architects we are working with is the firm of Meyers Anderson Architects, Pocatello ID.

Though the Internet does have some instances of the spelling Claussen, I believe the correct spelling of the architect’s surname is Clausen. He was primarily a decorator. His Salt Lake City firm, Hugo Clausen & Company, did the decorations for the Egyptian Theatre in Boise, Idaho, and Clausen painted the murals in the Central Theatre at Ely, Nevada. He is credited by an NRHP registration form as the architect of the Schubert Theatre (now the Gooding Cinema) at Gooding, Idaho.

The Cascade Theatre was located in a completely different location and closed when The Roxy opened. It roughly stood where the library now stands. The Roxy opened with its name in 1939.
