It’s a sign of the times when I read the word…“Twin”.

Mark in NC: I just clicked on the theatre website and found the directions near Asheville.

This theater actually only has one screen. They sometimes show a “G” rated movie in the day and a “R” at night though. This is a great little theater. I take my family here over taking them to the larger theaters in Asheville. They have first showings on all their movies and some on the movie’s opening day. All seats are same price and MUCH cheaper than going to Asheville, NC or Johnson City, TN.

Okay. That explains why there were two movie titles shown on the marquee in the photo I linked to in the first comment above. Thanks.

Screens should be changed to one. The Yancey Theater is listed in 1955 with 368 seats.

When the Yancy opened it was owned by the Cherokee Amusement Co. (A group of prominent businessmen). The first movie to show at the Yancy was “our Leading Citizen” with Bob Burns. Today the theatre is owned by Alvin kennedy.
