I’m happy to report that the Senate Theatre re-opened on May 20, 2011.
If the fire that caused the damage was of NO FAULT of the theater, then surely (and don’t call me Shirley) the insurance coverage is the responsibility of the owner of the building next door?
Perhaps the theater owner should investigate an insurance clause called “PROXIMATE CAUSE.” Good luck folks and don’t give up!

This is a copy of the statement released by KSDK the local NBC affiliate.
Elsberry, Mo (KSDK) — More than six fire departments battled a blaze that damaged several businesses in downtown Elsberry.
Elsberry Fire Chief Kevin Hailey said firefighters responded to a fire call in the 300 block of Broadway around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.
Chief Hailey said the fire quickly spread and damaged The Closet, which is a store for the needy. People can receive items and food there for free and it’s connected to the First Baptist Church of Elsberry.
The fire also damaged the Senate Theater, which is in a historic building that was renovated a few years ago.
Smoke caused damage to the Elsberry Flower shop, but the shop did not have any structural damage.
The State Fire Marshall has been called in to help find out what caused the fire.
No one was injured in the fire.
The Senate was heavily damaged today in a fire that started in the clothing store next door. The Senate Theatre dates back to 1913. The owners are not sure if they will be able to reopen the theatre. They will have to wait for the insurance company to see what they will say.
Still open today!
According to this artcle date 2/1/2006, the Senate theater is open again on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
