The Capitol Theatre opened in 1928 with seating listed at 1002. The Capitol was the largest theatre in Clinton. By 1941, it was operated by A.H. Blank, a subsidiary of Paramount pictures Inc. It was operated by Central State Theatres from 1961 until it closed in 1970. The theatre has since been demolished.

The Capitol Theatre was operated by Central State Theatres which was one of many subsidiaries of Paramount Theatres.
