Opened as the Jerry Lewis Cinema on May 12, 1971 with seating listed at 350. Was renamed the Mooresville Cinema on September 13, 1972 when the Jerry Lewis chain folded. The architect listed for the theater was Millia & Rondunone of New York.

I could not find when the Mooresville Cinema closed, but it still stands empty.

The old Jerry Lewis/Mooresville Cinema building is still standing today. It is now empty but after it’s movie days, housed several other businesses. It is located in The Village on Indiana St. close to the well known Gray’s Cafeteria. During it’s 70’s prime, there used to be a Burger Chef and Jeff adjacent to it where everyone hung out after the movies.

I have heard they will be reopening, not sure of a date though. I hope it’s soon.
