I updated Street View to the wrong block.

Are we sure the Uptown’s building has been demolished? The odd-numbered side of the 100 block of West Madison is almost solidly built up, and all the buildings look pretty old. I can’t imagine any of them having been built after 1950.

The Classic Theaters of Kansas website only mentions this about the Uptown Theater in Iola:
“Opened in 1933 no other history available at this time”.

On a City of Iola site it reads as follows:
“On South Washington (S. Washington Ave), Ira Kelley built the Kelley Hotel, the Iola Theater and the Uptown Theater. He also owned the old Pennsylvania Hotel that had been owned by the Fisher sisters. Also on South Washington was the J. V. Roberts Music Store”.
