On photo left of the Lewis Wickes Hine 1917 snapshot at the link below can be seen the Colonial style Vitagraph Theatre. Opened around 1908, the Oklahoma City Vitagraph operated until talkies replaced silents during the late 1920’s, then was renovated into retail space.

Basically the Vitagraph Theatre was a tiny nickelodeon nestled inside the NW corner of that Colonial style building. Above the man crossing the street can be seen a scalloped sign marking the Vitagraph Nickelodeon location.
Do think it closed long before the 1920’s rolled around.
The former Vitagraph Booking Office and Film Exchange Building still stands in downtown OKC on the NW corner of California at (I think) Hudson St.
Okie; close, but no cigar! You should have studied the Google map available at the top of this page.
The Vitagraph Building resides on the NW corner of Reno and Hudson. During an 1985 remodel job the chiselled Vitagraph stone was covered over with stucco, but the building still stands.
This 1905 photo shows the Vitagraph Theatre site, but due to the long shot can’t tell if theatre is yet in operations,

The post by ___ on April 22 2006 is, sorry to say, wrong, if the 1905 pic is correct. Because of the jog at Grand (Sheridan) and Hudson or Robinson, you can tell the 1905 pic was taken looking south. The stuccoed bldg at Reno & Hudson is 2 storeys tall, not 3.
I think the photo mentioned above is N Robinson and shows future site of Harber/Cooper.
21 S Robinson would be on the east edge of the Myriad Gardens today.
At the NW corner of California and Hudson is the modernistic and unique Theatre Center/Carpenter Square former Mummer’s. Most of the Film Exchange Bldgs are on Film Row near Sheridan and Lee http://www.filmrowokc.com/FilmExchange.swf
Carle SoonerGrad74; you are the one who is wrong!
Vitagraph Theatre location posted 4-22-06 is exactly correct. Photo background shows South Robinson Street, looking Norh. In the background can clearly be seen the thirteen story Colcord Bldg, and the five story Baum Bldg., both located at Grand and Robinson.
For futher images of the Colcord and Baum see the following theatres;
Liberty (AKA Harber/Cooper), RKO Rialto, State, and/or Warner (AKA Overholser/Orpheum)
Thanks Cosmic.
