During the mid 70’s Joe Goode does change the name to Cinema One and plays only Kung-Fu movies until he closes for good in the 80’s.
Mike in reply of you comment Mar 20,2010 no I never let them in free, for one, they never asked, Waylon Jennings and his wife Jessi would come to the Loews Crescent always about 20 minutes after the show started, they would just buy their tickets never stopped at the conncessions sometimes they left before the movie ended I think they were just killing time till they had to be somewhere else,no body seemed to even notice them.Johnny Cash was the smae way he came to the Loews Madison on Saturdays with his kids when he was in town nobody even bothered him but thats Nashville,Hoyt Akston was cool too he did not mind paying full price for a cup of ice must have had his own stash.Just came in a watched the movie like anyone else.
Well, I dealt with Kenny Rogers in Athens,He had a big horse farm there,It is onGEORGIA SQUARE CINEMAS GCC on CT,but you have read it. He never wanted in free,And really in Augusta I don’t remember JAMES BROWN ever asking to come in for free. If I spotted him in line i would quietly escort him in and he got such a big kick out of. I guess you got to do some small talk, but I am sure most locals left them alone.
few Flicks Joe Goode had, 6-31 -71 “GUESS WHAT WE LEARNED IN SCHOOL TODAY” Rated R,Next week he was playing, and it is hard to believe,“GONE WITH THE WIND”,Never would have guessed it. Opening June 25 1971 was “GIMME SHELTER”, “BENJAMIN” rated X plays 8-24-69.
Nov.28 1969 the X rated “FANNY HILL” opens. July 7 1967 he has “MAN AND A WOMAN” rated X. Nov.7 1969 and “PAMELA.PAMELA,YOU ARE…” rated X. Dec 25 1970 and “END OF THE ROAD” rated X is showing. May 8 1970 “I,A WOMAN,part II” rated X. Dec.22 1967 “CLIMAX” wasn’t a movie code then, Adults only.
Wide selection of films for sure at the Art theatre.
No way this theatre had 550 seats maybe a little over 100,it was built down in a a large basement.

August 30 1968 “POOR COW” rated X
June 13 1969 “TO INGRID MY LOVE LISA” rated X

JOE GOODE had changed the name to CINEMA ONE during the KUng-FU era.Playing “ENTER THE DRAGON” and “TRIPLE IRONS” wonder what the “Dragon” print looked like.
i was talking to friend whose dad ran movies down the street at the Imperial;he loaned several of his nice one sheets to Joe Goode[owner]for pictures playing and never got a single one back…Guess JOe never used NSS.
Mike, when ordering stills or one sheets from National Screen Service they were purchased outright, the theatre could do what they wanted with. The 30x40’s and the 40x60 had to be returned.
i have few that were not..lol. found in the old MILLER Theatre.
