From the January 9, 1961, issue of Boxoffice: “When fire destroyed the Donner Theatre at Truckee recently, seven families living in the second-floor apartments were left homeless. The cause of the fire was not determined.”

The Donner Theater is on the left in this 1950 photo.

Bryan…I can only find the Capitol theater mentioned as a silent theater. I don’t think its listed so you can add it if you want.

Lost, the Capitol may have been closed before 1945, because in the 1945 Film Daily Yearbook, the only theatre listed in Truckee opened or closed is the Donner.

The Capitol might have been an earlier theater. This website mentions the Capitol theater and has a small photo.

There must have been another theater in this town at some point:

“The Pharmacy, 10072 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA 96161, Located in the Old Capitol Theatre Building, 530-582-1668”.
