Just came back from seeing “Guardians of the Galaxy” in IMAX 3D….it was worth going to…the 3D conversion was pretty good and I like the aspect ratio changes and scenes in which things pop out of the scope aspect ratio as well as full screen transitions. During the preshow, the last few minutes were cut off by the preshow. Nearly all of the trailers were 2d, one of which was windowboxed (Night at the Museum 3), and others that didn’t fill up the IMAX screen that were in scope, and one 3D trailer that looks really good, the next Hobbit movie. I was a bit dissapointed that the third trailer for Interstellar wasn’t shot in IMAX as that film was near completion at the time of this comment. As for the movie, it was quite enjoyable and the audience loved it. Stay after the credits for a funny scene. The audio mix is a bit loud but very good.

Might have been a delivery error by the studio to amc. Today, I went to see “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” in 2d, and came in just in time for the trailer reel. I already saw the second Hunger Games Mockingjay trailer so i didn’t know if they showed it before the amc policy trailer or after the movie was over. Presentation was pretty good and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. I also got a free Imax Transformers poster even though i’ll wait for the bluray to come out for rental. Pretty soon this theater will have comfier seats. Some of the seats are a bit stiff for me to sit through.

I am very well aware of how AMC is presenting it’s coming attractions now.

It brought you to this site that a Cinemark XD logo was shown on an AMC screen.

I was merely offering a solution as to how that could have occurred.

Yes hdtv267. When the trailer reel starts at AMC, after the announcer says, “Coming Soon to AMC”…the words zoom out and the green band is on for the first trailer. All other trailers don’t have bands and conclude with not only the movie title date and amc logo but the film’s rating on the lower left corner of the screen.

I heard people have complained that the imax digital projector sometimes breaks down….

Your comment about “Kingsman : The Secret Service” trailer is quite intriguing. I’ve attended screenings for AMC theaters in venues in many different regions. Lately the conclusion of the trailer would have a slide with the graphic of the movie’s title , AMC logo and date in which the movie was scheduled to open.

I’ve seen commercials for other movies during the pre-show. Perhaps that is when you saw it.?

Just came back from seeing X-Men Days of Future Past. Crowd was busy for the first showing of a Sunday of a long weekend. The movie was great and thankfully I saw it in 2d. It was a bit dark in some spots (projection) but the audio was great and they showed some cool policy trailers before and after the movie. One weird thing I saw during the trailer for Kingsman..at the end they showed one of AMC’s competitors, Cinemark, and the XD logo. Weird. One thing I like about this theater is it’s within walking distance of other stores straight across from the theater with the sidewalks between cars. It’s great during a nice day. The preshow didn’t show a picture until later before it ended.

Some people on Yelp and twitter have complained that movies start too late due to technical issues and gripe about high prices. It won’t be long before AMC raises prices later this year…makes me want to stay home and watch a bluray or stream a movie inside my home or watch with friends. This year marks five years since the Imax installation and digital 4k projection was installed. Nothing much has changed although prices have gone up and ticket providers changed although this theater now serves both movietickets and fandango. The preshow can be shazamed by cellphone for more info. They need to hire better personell for the theater. And maybe some reclining seats ala Morristown for the non stadium seats.

Just came back from seeing Mr. Peabody and Sherman in RealD3D. While i enjoyed the movie, the short film before it, and the 3d previews complete with excellent surround sound, i thought the 3d lenses were a bit separated and somewhat blurry. The ticketing machine that prints out tickets printed out the wrong movie yet the cashier was lucky to write in the correct auditorium number. Theater was very clean.

Looks like Divergent is selling out in Imax. Hopefully word of mouth is good just like other movies like that including Hunger Games.

Just checking out showtimes for this theater and looks like AMC is not showing any classic movies there still. What a shame.

Seems that AMC knows how to deal with winter storms by closing the theater for the remaider of the day of the storm to allow plowers to clear the parking lot and the township to clear any snow near the front, sides, and back of the theater.

Went to see The Lego Movie in 2D last night…movie was entertaining and funny. The surround sound was decent and picture good quality. The Pathway to the auditorium was a bit dirty with popcorn kernels.

I think it has to due with location.

Well all I can say is flagship or not, Paramus was a complete ghost town when I checked out Classic 80s showcase there. Like TWO other people! You could’ve heard a pin drop in there. When they had it at Rockaway the last few years it was always a decent crowd at least and people were really into it. I don’t know what they were thinking since the 80s stuff of any sort (even current films set in the 80s) seem to do better at the Rockaway location than most others so why they pulled it from here and made it Paramus flagship only, I have no clue.

This coming weekend a hostful of Oscar nominees are back at this theater. Speaking of oscars, AMC will have the BPS next month before the awards ceremony in March. I used google search for movie tickets and found that AMC is now using Movietickets alongside Fandango for advance tickets, with the former the default for buying tickets and checking to see if it’s sold out or not. I find fandango more colorful and the mobile experience better. The website for amc’s theater is also useful too. The Imax screen in Rockaway is probably the largest in the NW section of NJ, which is great for scope movies.

Maybe it’s not a flagship, but it used to carry the classic showcase all the same. And it’s certainly the flagship for the northwest part of the state.

saw american hustle in theater #3 (one of the smaller auditoriums that is straight across from the men’s restroom) and while i enjoyed the movie (not as good as silver linings playbook) and its soundtrack i thought the theater dimmed the projection to save light life. One thing I noticed…the Real D recycling bin, which meant that this theater had Real D lenses. Also the masking was a bit off.

They are not a flagship theater like the amc garden state 16 with its luxurious seating, AMC ETX with Atmos, and the largest digital IMAX screen inside a 16 plex seat wide in NJ. That theater is always packed and get the indie movies first as it is with Her when it came out a few weeks ago. They also have reserved seating, which this theater doesn’t have. Also, sometimes the ticketing machines won’t work due to computer glitches.

Anyone else disappointed that AMC cut back the AMC Classics showcase for this winter to like only a handful of theaters in the entire nation? One theater per state (other than a few large states and even there it’s just a few)? It’s just about to the point of why even bother. What will they get with that like 50-100 people seeing each move per state??

It’s pretty annoying that AMC Rockaway pulled out. And why? I don’t get it. How many people do they get there in on a Wednesday night in the winter? Not that many from what I’ve seen and certainly not more than I saw them get when they ran the classics showcase in past years (and they didn’t even do ANY promotion for them).

Only a single theater in all of NJ gets the lineup for this winter (and it’s a nightmare location for traffic for the showtimes): Big, Princess Bride, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Groundhog Day, Sleepless in Seattle.

What the heck is going on with the Rockaway AMC?

Gravity returns to AMC in Rockaway, but in RealD 3D only, according to advance showtimes on Fandango. This is because the IMAX is showing Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit which I don’t care for. I plan on seeing American Hustle this weekend before it leaves the theaters due to its awards buzz.

Happy New Year’s Eve!!! Went to see “Smaug” in Imax 3d. While I enjoyed the movie (huge improvement over “Unexpected Journey”) I thought the action was blurry compared with the high resolution close ups of the characters despite the excellent surround sound (especially when Smuag appears on screen). Pretty weird that AMC started their main previews and trailers with the no cellphones/movie start trailer and then the welcome to amc trailer before the AMC Lone Survivor long preview followed by a few trailers. Kinda annoying when at the end of Smaug the lights brighten up before credits roll. Also some crumbs of popcorn on the row where i sat. That’s what $13 gets you, lol.

Just came back from seeing The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in regular rather than IMAX since it was the earliest show and enjoyed the movie very much. Seems that AMC came out with new policy trailers which are great. Too many previews I agree. The projection and sound were top notch although the bottom of the widescreen was a little cut off, just a minor flaw of the curtain machine. This movie has good word of mouth.

checking out advance showtimes for future movies…no mention of HFR 3D for hobbit 3d or even atmos/etx. What a shame. At least there’s imax.
