Jersey Shore Hurricane News had an article that this theatre is scheduled to close due to the Frank Theatre bankruptcy.
Uploaded an 1970 aerial photo. it was part of a drive-in.
Good Luck Nick Joseph running this joint! I know you were trained well!
i like towne 16 the best because they have stadium seating.
towne 16 used to have coke when they first opened, today they have pepsi.
Nice booth photo Crazy Bob.
Marion, did you purchase a ticket or Sneak in 100 times!
I took my seven year old niece to see “Pocahontas” at the Towne in the mid 1990s. It was a matinee in the middle of the summer. I think every kid in Atlantic County was at the theater that afternoon. It was a zoo.
I saw War of the Worlds here a few years back, and can still remember how great the sound was for such an old theater. The picture was horrible, though.
I remember when it was the Towne Twin. It opened in Oct. 1969. The booth had Super Simplex & Peerless arc lamps. It was the first time I saw automated change overs. I must have watched Easy Rider a thousand times! It became the Towne 4 in 1973. That was the first time I ran platters. Below is a pic I took in September 1978. The next day the peeless came out to be replaced with Christe Xenolites. The sound system was University 35 watt mono.
