The first of three cinemas in Hixson to don the Northgate title. This one opened about the same time the adjoining Northgate Mall did and was originally a single screen operation.

Sometime during the 1980s the number of screens was expanded to eight and the management went from Martin to Carmike. The theatre closed in 2005.
