Opened March 18, 2007, the Indpendence Cinema is an eight-screen first-run multiplex operated by the Prestige Theatres mini chain, which also operates the Sandy Cinema in Sandy, OR, and the Battle Ground Cinema in Battle Ground, WA.

“Prestige Development, in partnership with the City of Independence, Oregon, has started construction on a new cinema in downtown. The new cinema, named Independence Cinema, will open Spring 2007 with eight auditoriums and a total of 826 reclining luxury seats. Independence Cinema is conveniently located at the intersection of 3rd Street and D Street in historic downtown Independence, Oregon. This project will jump start the downtown revitalization process.
The 18,000 square foot cinema will be similar in design and amenities to other cinemas completed by Prestige Development which include Battle Ground Cinema in Battle Ground, Washington and Sandy Cinema in Sandy, Oregon. LCG/Pence Construction, of Salem, Oregon has been selected as the General Contractor for the project".
