MCM Theatres bought the Priest from its previous owner, Mrs. Mary Priest Logan, in 1953. The Boxoffice item about the transaction, published in the issue of November 7, said that MCM had already been operating the theater under a lease for more than seven years.

People go to church in Florida in clothing that would violate the dress code!

I don’t see how girls wearing shorts can be gang related. Doesn’t it get hot in Florida? Maybe the owner wants them to wear sweatsuits. That would make it easier to hide weapons.

They are discouraging gang-related clothing. Maybe the theater is in a bad neighborhood.

This is a 2008 photo of the Priest Theater and here is the dress code for this theater. It sounds like this theater is operated by priests.

In 1963 the Priest was part of MCM Theaters, headquartered in the Tropic Theater building in Leesburg, FL.

This website claims that this theater might be converted to a community cultural center.

“By June 30, 2007 we will develop a strategy for strengthening arts, live music, theater and crafts within the downtown district. We will partner with High Springs Community Theater and other arts organizations to develop this strategy. We will explore funding opportunities for converting the historic Priest Theater into a community cultural center. Lead Responsibility: Economic Restructuring Committee”.
