The Metro (Plaza) Theatre was situated at 10, St. George’s Street (corner of St.George’s and Waterkant Streets) It was built in the Art Deco style and had stalls and circle seating.
The “Cape Argus” of May 1954, lists this Theatre as the “Plaza” of Union Theatres Ltd. (at the time the MGM film “Saadia” with Cornel Wilde and Ronald Colman was showing.)
The theatre was demolished in the late 1970’s and the NBS Building erected on the site.
