I grew up in Ogdensburg and remember going to the movies there. The kids would line up along the side of the building for the 15 cent afternoon show. I remember the theater well and even painted a water color painting of it. I still remember the inside, but would love to see if there is any photos of the inside. I left in 1972 for the air force and that is when the place burned down. I go home now for visits and still remember the theater which is now a parking lot for the diner next door.

mikey: Please post the pic! I’ve been to Ogdensburg NY and don’t recall anyone telling me about their former EBERSON theatre.

I have a pic of Ogdensburg’s Strand Theater taken in the 1940’s. It is from the city’s 1948 Bicentennial book. I could post it if you like and of course would make sure to give credit to the book as the picture’s source.

The Strand Theatre in Ogdensburg, NY was opened for the first time in January 1917. It was owned by the Schine Corporation and was the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, was managed by Mr. John Langford of Ogdensburg. The theater remained open until October 16, 1972, when it was completely destroyed by fire. The ruins were immediately torn down and the site became a parking lot for the diner next door, as it remains today. I will try and get a photo of what the site looks like now if you wish.
