The Picturehouse opened on 2nd May 1997, and brought films back to the town for the first time since the previous Picture House closed in 1983.

This two screen cinema has a modern design with the screens seating 208 and 104 being located on the first floor of the building. There is a cafe/bar with an open air terrace for the convenience of patrons. The decorative finishes within the building are in lightwood, white and yellow which give an airy feel to the building.
