I can’t link to the website because its a translated page so I’m pasting the text here:

Cine PAX

In 23 of January of 1943, in a Saturday night, he was inaugurated in Mossoró cine-theater PAX. One marries of diversion constructed for initiative of a society organized for action between entrepreneurs of the commerce and industry and the Municipal City hall of Mossoró, in the administration of the priest Luis Blacksmith of Cunha Mota, with the purpose to endow the city with a recreativo center condigno. The event if constituted in a great social movement, with liturgical blessing, symbolic ribbon cut, being twirled for the present public the film in tecnicolor FORMOSA OUTLAW, interpreted for astro North American Walter Scott.

The building of cine PAX, that if keeps unchanged until the current days, had its project elaborated for George Lumier, a French architect who came to Brazil the invitation of the Diocese of the Ceará to construct the Cathedral of $fortaleza. Knowing of the presence of the French architect in $fortaleza, the shareholders of the PAX had treated to invite it to construct the building of the new cinema of Mossoró.

Amongst the entrepreneurs whom the society in 1943 constituted, he was Jorge de Albuquerque Pinto. With passing of the time, this entrepreneur was buying all the actions, until if becoming the shareholding greater, transforming Cine PAX into patrimony of the family.

According to words of its current proprietor, the lawyer Luiz Columbus Pinto, son of Jorge de Albuquerque Pinto, “Cine PAX have a sentimental value for our family, also a multinational arrived to consider the highest value for the PAX. Other people would not think two times. I would say that it was a proposal irrecusável, but did not accept. The PAX has incalculable value which had the sentimental value that represents for our family”. Pinto Luiz dirige Cine PAX since 1970.

The structure of the PAX, cine-theater, allowed that some famous attractions and artists came if to present in its palco, in decades 50 and 60. It enters the artists of reputation who had passed for the PAX can cite Procópio Ferreira, Maria Della Costa, Renato Viana and others.

Throughout its 59 years of existence, Cine PAX showed great films, with prominence for “the Drunkard”, a national film with the tenor Vicente Celestino, “the Ten Orders”, “Dio eats you more recently loves” and “Titanic”.

A curious fact is that in the golden times of the cinema in Mossoró, when the city counted on some rooms of exhibition, the films did not have date foreseen for the arrival, since they were carried from boats, come for $fortaleza and Aracati, occurring, to the times, misfortunes. When the same ones arrived, the cinema owners freed foguetões to inform to the society that in that night would have exhibition.

With the modernization of the medias, with the appearance of the television and later the expansion it videocassete, with the sprouting of the parabolic one and more recently with appearance DVD, had one accented fall to it in the search for cinemas. The people started to prefer the comfort to attend films in its proper houses, what he took some companies to close its doors, preferring to rent the building for other ends. Of the 10 cinemas that existed in Mossoró, Cine PAX still only is in activity, exactly thus with high and low, the point of, in some periods, to have locked up momentarily its activities to rent the building that started to serve of committee politician. In these periods, Mossoró, the second bigger city of the Great River of the North, was without no room of exhibition.

Exactly with all difficulty that has past, Cine PAX has resisted, the point to arrive at the 59 years of age in renewal process, keeping, however, the originalidade of its building and the grandiosidade of its lines architectural. Congratulations, dr. Luiz Young chicken. Mossoró is thankful!

If you take another look at the photo, there appear to be movie posters on either side of the market entrance. Perhaps there is another entrance for the theater, as LM’s post suggests that the theater is the last one in Mossoró and is still showing films.

I don’t think the translator meant to call Dr. Young a chicken at the end of the article. His name might have been Frango, which means chicken, and then was translated a bit too literally.

Another site gives this information with a date of 10/2/07.

It continues in poster in the Cine Pax, the sessions of 17h and 20h30, the film the Didi Knight and the Lili Princess. In the Didi film (Renato Aragão) he is the stableman of king Lindolfo (Werner Schünemann), monarch of the Landnóvia, of who he is also friend of infancy and council member. This situation does not please to the ministers of the kingdom, in special the Jafar (Alexander Zachia), brother of the king. Didi is also sufficient friend of the Lili princess (Lívia Taranto Aragão), son only Dos Reis Lindolfo and Valentina (Vera Holtz) and future queen. Jafar sets a plan to get rid itself of Didi, that fails and finishes for killing the king. With Lili in the successory line of the monarchy, Jafar starts to plan the marriage of it with its son Gallant (Eike Duarte). However it knows Juan (Matheus Massaafferri), a plebeian for who if she gets passionate.

I did a search for “Didi Knight and the Lili Princess” on Imdb to get a release date and the search results for that title returned “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” which turns out to be a video game. I think the translator could use a translator. :)
