This was the first multiplex theatre in San Diego. An almost non-existent lobby was a just a small hallway. It was demolished because a modern 18-plex was being built inside the mall.

It had four Cinemeccanica Victoria 4 projectors in two projection booths. Two projectors shared a five platter Christie platter system. The projectors used an amazing “Deitz” relay automation system. The theatre actually had one remaining “silver screen” when it was torn down.

Where it stood is now an empty lot in the far northwest corner of the mall.

The Fashion Valley 1-2-3-4 opened the week of June 3, 1970. The opening films were: 1) Funny Girl 2) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 3) Loving 4) Cactus Flower

I loved these theatres and they were always touting that their films were presented in Dolby Stereo. I recall seeing ALIEN here opening weekend.
