I just interviewed Melanie Loggins, who acts as general manager, of The Majestic for a documentary about independent theaters I’m currently working on. The Majestic is a beautiful little theater, and completely embodies the character and passion of all those who are involved with it.

Good for you! May other towns and cities follow your excellent example. Best of luck!

Good news: through the concentrated efforts of the town’s citizens, this theater is back in business! It is now been renamed the Majestic Theater, with a new marquee and the addition of a vertical sign, has been returned to its original single screen status, has 3D capability, and has a rebuilt stage to accommodate live performances. Here is the story: View link

I with you Scott, you can always skip over the posts that do not intrest you, now back to the March Twin.

Well, if there were comments that Warren made that got deleted, then perhaps I don’t know the whole story. All I can say is that I never read anything from him that irritated me. I found most of his posts quite helpful. Looking at the comments posted for this theatre, it appears Warren was attacked without provocation. Seems like many message boards, even this one, will eventually degenerate into name calling and childish arguments. I just want to talk about the theatres, and I try to ignore the inane comments.

You make a good point there Al,by the way were Rodneys comments deleted or are they still there I have not looked, I took you side on that issue,“they are what they are” you said, to use your words.I do not mean to make an issue of such a small thing but it seems like selective censorship is happening here. Also Where are they supposed to draw the line?I ask who are they? I guess I will be banned for expressing my thoughts.Help keep the dicussion productive.Or your comments will be removed. I would not want to have the job of removing all the off-topic comments on this site because I have read many,Maybe they will remove this comment, time will tell.

Then you have comments like those on the 16th Street Lauderhill page.

Where are they supposed to draw the line?

Scott, the reason you do not see a problem is that so many comments were removed.

Right on Scott, everyone has their right to speak in America, you do not have to agree with them but that is their right the same as yours. Now we are off-topic so maybe we should say something about the March Twin Theatre or maybe the thought police will get us too.Too bad this theatre closed it should have been saved.

I read a ton of comments by Warren and never saw a problem. But I did notice people over-reacting a whole lot. Many of the comments directed at Warren were much worse then anything Warren said. Score one for the thought police.

Man, you hate to lose members that contribute a lot on these theatres, but rules are rules.

O.K. Chuck. I thought that may be the case,he did contribute a lot though.

Header should still be changed to March Twin Theatre AKA Gay

They were using the marquee to promote someone’s candidacy a few years ago:

A “Twenty Years Ago” feature in Boxoffice of August 28, 1948, quoted a 1928 Movie Age item saying “E. E. Gailey, operator of the Crystal in Wayne, Neb., will open his new Gay Theatre there soon.”

The November 30, 1929, issue of Movie Age reported that “Western Electric sound equipment has been installed in the new Gay Theatre at Wayne, Neb.” E.E. Gailey is mentioned as the manager in this item.

The Gay was mentioned in Boxoffice of November 25, 1939, as one of six theaters then being operated by the March brothers. All were being remodeled and/or redecorated by Al Hauetter of the Modern Theatre Decorators company of Kansas City.

I believe this theatre should be listed as the March Twin Theatre, aka Gay Theatre. March Twin theatre was the name when it closed in April, 2009.

Whats in a name anyway? I agree with Chuck1231 and Ron Salters, I think this site is to discuss Theatres, everyone has their likes and dislikes.Lets have some fun a forget all these personal attacks because we all have enough problems in our life. This site I believe is for entertainment and information,it is not the end of the world if someone enters some wrong info, there is plenty of it on this site and any others,Have a Good Day!!!!

The Gay Theater is listed under Wayne NE in the 1942-43 Motion Picture Almanac. It and the Crystal Theater in Wayne were run by Marschoene Theatres Inc., Philip L. March, General Mgr. Marschoene Theatres was part of March Brothers Theatres Inc. of Vermillion, South Dakota. Chuck1231, I agree that as long as Cinema Treasures has the electonic capacity then the more theaters listed, the better. And when posters make mistakes, there is a proper way to post a correction without being insulting and nasty about it.

Yes Warren you are the person that I was talking about, when I first came across this theatre rather than think of the theatre I thought of you and all the negative comments you have made on other pages about Gay theatres. I don’t understand you and your negativity. Why you are so determined to other member on CT. Members that have contributed more than any one else. You mentioned in one attack about numbers, well if that member hadn’t contributed so much to CT there would be half the number of theatres and information on theatres listed. You made a comment about photo links on a St. Louuis page, that was so unnecessary, you yourself have linked from the same photo site, and what about your photo bucket links that seem to never work, or your newspaper links that are barely readable it at all. After fitghting for my life for two years and being able to get back in the swing of things on CT and see of the comments that you have made toward others I have all but lost interest in CT. your negative comments really goes against what CT was meant for. you have made a comment about numbers, is that your goal, numbers? The person you said this about is not about numbers, it is about his research and sharing with others. He has helped a lot of CT members in their research so I don’t believe his goal is numbers. There have been others that have banned from CT for less that what you have said. I don’t really care if they ban me for saying this about you I hardly post any comments on CT anymore. I check out the theatres in my email from CT and that is about it. I just really can’t understand your point and why you are so cruel and unkind. Just one more thing, what one person sees as a cinema treasure doesn’t mean that all will, but it is a cinema and may be a treasure to that person, why should we degrade them for feeling that way. Our personal feelings belong kept to ourselves and not posted to Cinema Treasures. That is not the purpose of the site.
If a person makes a comment in contribution on a theatre and there is an inaccuracy, there is a proper way to add a comment and make the correction. Enough.

Does anyone here know when this theatre was built?
