This theater was built near the now nearly closed Washington Mall, originally as a twin theatre. It has eight screens, all with the older auditorium style seating.

This opened as a twin cinema on December 25th, 1974.
grand opening ad is at View link
In 1975 it was being operated by Cinemette who was the dominant chain in Washington.
The theatre should also have an AKA Cinema World. Carm ike was the last to operate this theatre and the screens should be 8. It is no longer showing up on the Carmike website.Washington Mall Cinemas. It is now being operated as an independent showing first run attractions. Here is their website

According to the story, the twin that opened in 1974 closed in 1986; the eight-screen complex opened on Dec. 18, 1987 and is still open.
Need to update the header to 8 screens.
Was the 8-screener an expansion of the original twin, or was the twin demolished to make way for an all-new build?
The theatre is now closed.
The last showings were on January 20th, 2013.
As the condition of the theatre and the entire mall deteriorated, the only choice was to close it.
