The Cinedrome opened in January 1931. It was independently operated and had a seating capacity of 700. The proscenium was 30 feet wide. It was briefly re-named the Plaza Cinema in around 1944 and it became the Carlton Cinema in around 1945, when it was operated by Cornwall Cinemas Ltd.
By 1947 it had been re-named Regal Cinema. In 1986 it was refurbished and was converted into a twin screen cinema with seating for 224 and 96.
