Lyric Theater

Although in 1987 the Lyric sign was gone and the outside box office office was boarded up, movie poster frames were visible in the recessed entrance. Above a sheltering overhang were decorative arched windows, there was no visible signs of a marquee and the building appeared to be in relatively good condition.

Don’t know whether or not Pawnee had two different Lyric theatres, or if the above posted image is actually that of the Buffalo or Ritz.
1920 picture postcard shows a Lyric Theatre (photo right) in Pawnee. Recent postcard view is of the same Lyric Building (photo right) as it stands today. Fancy pressed tin ornamentation long gone, twinkie color stucco now covers stone walls, and an oversized Dick Tracy cartoon adorns the sidewall.
