Washington Theatre

Cannot ascertain whether Community or Washington was the original name of this theater. I’m guessing it was Community first and Washington later.

Because the address 7444 Washington Street in Swissvale Borough, east of Pittsburgh, no longer appears on Allegheny County real estate records, I’m inclined to believe that a renaming of part of Washington Street took place. (That happened, for example, in Pittsburgh where Forbes Avenue replaced Diamond Street.)

In 1973 I found a casket company at this site. In 1983, Rick Bachelder’s Filmet film color lab was there.
