The Wynnsong Cinemas in Durham was the first megaplex theatre under the Carmike Cinemas chain. The cinema opened in 1993 as a ten-screen theatre, and later on was reconstructed into a fifteen-screen megaplex complete with full stadium seating and super digital projection.
The theatre is located near the vicinity of the South Square area of Southwestern Durham and it does tremendous business when it comes to showing some of Hollywood’s finest.

The Wynnsong Cinemas was actually the second megaplex to opened in Durham as a premiere showplace in 1993.
The Willowdaile Eight was the first which opened in 1987 and it stayed operational until its closing in 2005.
The Wynnsong Cinemas replaced the closed South Square Mall Cinemas,
and the Yorktowne Theatre(which was located on Chapel Hill Blvd.)in 1993. Wynnsong is the ONLY moviehouse in Durham that caters to evening late shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
Wynnsong opened in 1993 as an ten-screen multiplex and later on added five more screens and was reconstructed with full stadium seating and Dobly digital projection. As of this writing,Wynnsong Cinemas remains the only theatre under the Carmike Cinemas chain that is in operation within the greater Durham/Chapel Hill area. And the only moviehouse in Durham that caters to evening late shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
This is a duplicate copy that needs to corrected.
There is a newer version labeled as “Carmike Wynnsong 15”.
