One of the photos of the Fotosho on the photos page here also appears on page 2 of the book “The Community of Cinema: How Cinema and Spectacle Transformed the American Downtown” by James Forsher.

A previous theatre operated at the Fotosho location with the name MARCO and was opened by F. E. McViegh. The location (it is unclear whether it ever showed films) eventually fell in the hands of the Leach Family who partnered with Famous Players-Lasky and eventually founded the Miami branch of Paramount-Publix.

The group eventually controlled the Fotosho, Fairfax, and the Airdome.

The Fotosho was already open in 1915. It DID eventually re-open after the 1926 hurricane only to close again for good in 1930.

Yes, LM. That’s the one. The Hippodrome advertised on top was down the street.
