Built in 1986, about the same time the Six Forks Station Cinemas opened on the other side of Raleigh. The Tower Merchants Six Cinema was opened in 1987, and was located in Southeast Raleigh at the Tower Merchants Shopping Center off Bastion Lane at the Raleigh Beltine near New Bern Avenue(US.64/264). The cinema was not far from the Tower Twin Theatre which was up the street in the same vicinity.
It was operated by Cineplex Odeon and latterly by Carmike Cinemas.

I managed this theater VERY briefly for Carmike in January 1994. There were several nights where we closed early because no one showed up for the 9:00 shows – no one knew the theater even existed because of where it was built. Interestingly enough, my now-father-in-law is who built the theater originally (as in, the contractor, not owner).
