Also known as the Tower Place 8, located in the Tower Place Shopping Center at the intersection of Highway 51 and Park Road. This was also another one of several theatres in the greater Charlotte area that was owned and operated by General Cinema Corporation.
General Cinema also operated at the time in the Charlotte area the Charlottetowne Mall Cinemas, Southpark Mall Cinemas, and Eastland Mall Cinemas.

Address was 8700 Pineville Matthews Road. It opened in 1986.

I worked there the last year or so that they were open as a projectionist. It was a great theater, but alas when AMC opened it’s new theater off South Blvd with stadium seating, it was hard to compete. The theater closed and was demolished to make room for a Fitness Center.
The GCC district manager’s office was upstairs – a vertical trim of glass block at the office door did help make it look a little better than just a door in the wall.
