The Moonlite Drive-In opened about 1950 and was independantly owned and operated until the late-1960’s. It staggered its pictures so it had a new picture each night on its double feature and charged $1.00 per carload.
In 1968, the family sold the drive-in to Gulf States Theatres. It was destroyed in 1969 by Hurricane Camille. The picture that was to have played that night was “Gone With The Wind”. Gulf States Theatres announced a twin screen drive-in theatre for the old Moonlite location, but did not build it.
