The Delta 6 was owned & operated by Eastern Federal. They also owned The Regency Theatres just around the corner on Albemarle Road when they built The Delta 6. (named for the road it was built on—Delta Road—which has since been renamed W. T. Harris Boulevard)
I was working at the Regency Cinema when this theatre was built. I always chuckled at the fact they called it the Delta 6 and for most of its suprisingly brief life, it actually resided on WT Harris Boulevard.
As part of the Eastern Federal family at the Regency between 1989 and 1991, I remember going over to the Delta many times to see employee only screenings of such films as DICK TRACY, but for a six screen house, the place always felt very small and cheaply put together. It was also a strange location for a theatre as it was not really near any major shopping centers or anchor stores, and was very easy to miss if you were driving by casually.
The Delta 6 never attracted much business during its time in operation, and unless I’m mistaken it barely lasted 15 years in existence, which might seem long, but compared to the decades-long runs of nearby theatres in the area, the Delta 6 always felt like a bad idea that never really had a chance.
playing Summer of June 22 1997 for Micheal, At Delta 6. “BATMAN and ROBIN” in DTS. “SPEED 2”,“MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING”, and"THE LOST WORLD" must been using interlock on some of the films.
