Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the Hippodrome Bingo Club in Bishop Auckland. Taken from the balcony looking towards stage left, it centres on a small box at balcony level. To the right of the box the balcony slips are visible, and to the left the proscenium and house tabs can be seen. However, the stage seems to have been removed and instead another bingo area is visible where the stage would have been. The proscenium and tabs are consequently cut off halfway down to accommodate this.

A false ceiling has also been placed immediately above the proscenium thereby preventing views of the original domed ceiling and the upper balcony (‘the Gods’)
