Designed by architect Carl Wirth for owner John C. Murray, the Orpheum Theatre was opened Feb. 5, 1912 on Victoria Avenue at Archibald Street. The Allardt brothers of South Bend, Indiana, who had a circuit of theatres, were the first lessees. It was a vaudeville and cinema theatre, but also showed touring and amateur stage productions. It had two galleries, a balcony and twelve boxes.
In August 1920 it was leased by Trans-Canada Theaters Ltd. In August 1922 it was redecorated and reopened as a Paramount theatre for Famous Players Canadian Corp. It was demolished in fall 1958.
