The Town Hall building was opened in 1901 and was designed by architects Anthony Scott and his son William Scott. The Assembly Hall in the building was converted into a cinema (date unkown) and is listed as operating in 1937 by Dundealgan Electric Theatres Ltd. Occasonal variety was also staged.

The Town Hall Cinema continued into at least the mid-1950’s. It is noted that the Assembly Hall was bomb damaged by the IRA in the 1970’s ‘Troubles’.
