The Wayne Theater opened in the early-1940’s (it is listed as open in 1941 with 300 seats). It was destroyed by fire in 1947. It was rebuilt, reopening on November 20, 1951 as the Mohawk Theater, with a seating capacity for 499. It was designed by architect Jack K. Vogel. The Mowhawk Theater was closed by the early-1970’s. Since 1971 the building has been used as a restaurant.
